our last public forum regarding the school facilities utilization study will take place Wednesday, March 30, 2016, in the Polson Middle School auditorium. The evening will begin with a school tour at 6:00 p.m., hosted by Polson Grade 8 students, followed by the public forum beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The Parent Program that is being recognized for this award has been a critical component at Dr. Robert H. Brown Middle School in Madison CT for 8 years! "Coffee with the Counselors" was researched and developed by a School Counselor at Robert H. Brown Middle School 8 years ago. This program has been so beneficial that it is now implemented in all of the Madison Public Schools for grades 5-8.

Grace Cummings, a student-athlete at DHHS, was recently honored by the MPS Board of Education for her selection as the 2015 recipient of the "National High School Spirit of Sport Award". The award was created by the National Federation of State High School Associations to recognize those individuals who exemplify the ideals of the spirit of sport that represent the core mission of education-based athletics.

The NSTA/Toshiba Exploravision Awards has selected a fourth grade team from Island Avenue School to represent Region 1 in the national competition.

A presentation on the draft proposal from the Charter Review Committee will be done at a Public Hearing on April 21, 2015 at 7:00pm. This Public Hearing will also include the presentation of the proposed Annual Budget.

This year, all districts are mandated to administer the SBAC to all students in grades 3-8, and grade 11 in the areas of reading, writing and math. The science CMT/CAPT test will continue to be administered in Grades 5, 8, and 10.

Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents Student Leadership Award. Andrew Rossi was recognized by the Board of Education at a recent meeting. Andrew is the recipient of the Student Leadership Award presented by the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents.

‚ÄčIn July, Madison Public Schools Superintendent Thomas Scarice participated in a radio interview on the University of Hartford show, "The Assault on Public Education". The interview covered topics such as current education reforms, the impact of the common core and high stakes testing, and the preservation of childhood.
