The Madison Public Schools Board of Education consists of nine members who are elected by the voters of Madison. Each volunteer member serves a four-year term.
Jean Thompson Fitzgerald and her husband Tim have lived in Madison since 2003 and have four children in Madison schools. She has earned a Masters degree in education from Long Island University and has done extensive postgraduate work in educational technology. Jean is a New York State certified teacher. She began her education career as a teacher and director of a kindergarten. Currently she teaches in the English Department at Southern Connecticut State University and has also been teaching both in the classroom and online for Pace University for the past 18 years. She has been a boy scout den mother, an active participant of four school PTO’s and volunteers in the St. Margaret parish religious education instruction program. She has served as a consultant for several non-profit education groups and has offered workshops in both teaching strategies and children’s literature.
