What's new ?

We made it to the end of another successful school year!  Please find time to relax and enjoy your summer break.  The first day of school is August 27th, 2014.  Miss Hayes will move up to the sixth grade (following the grade) and Mrs. Kilian will welcome in our new 5th graders (and stay with them for two years).  We wish our departing 6th graders a great start at Polson and we are very excited to welcome our new 5th graders in the Brown School Community!

Miss Hayes and Mrs. Kilian work with individual students, groups of students, attend and organize meetings and teach in health classes.  In 5th grade Mrs. Kilian will teach lessons on stress management, respecting differences and conflict resolution.  In 6th grade Miss Hayes will teach lessons on career exploration, sexual harrasment and helps 6th graders develop a Student Success Plan using our software program, Naviance.

Mentoring Matters

Madison Youth and Family Services program “Mentoring Matters” once again has proven to be a huge success! We are pleased to announce that we are accepting registration forms for all fifth and sixth grade students.

Mentoring Matters will “match” your child with a highly motivated, well-qualified high school student in a mentor/mentee relationship. Within the bounds of this positive peer relationship and through mutuality of experience, our young people can thrive and expand their horizons. Mentoring provides participation with support, friendship, positive reinforcement, and constructive example.

Our group will meet every Wednesday after school at Brown Middle School from 3:00-4:15.

Madison Youth Services staff will supervise all meetings.

If you feel your child may find our program beneficial and enjoyable, please contact Melissa Balletto at Madison Youth Services –  203 245-5656. Space is limited!
