A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

As parents and educators, we desire the same thing for our children--the best possible education.  We are committed to every child's success.  It is essential that equitable, balanced classes be assembled, which reflect what teachers know about the conditions under which your child best functions.  You can be sure that throughout the placement process one concern will be foremost in our minds; that your child will be in a classroom in which he or she will flourish both academically and socially.

Meetings for placement in grades kindergarten through four will take place during the months of May and June.  At each grade level, the classroom teachers and all our professional staff will meet to provide input for placement for the 2008/2009 year.

As you may know, each of our classes is a heterogeneous group of children.  When we develop our classes, we consider reading and math abilities, gender, learning style/teaching style, behavioral patterns, peer relationships, and overall class balance.

The professional staff has the responsibility to determine the best placement for each child.  If your child has needs, which are not already known to the school, or if you would like to share your view of your child's learning style, please submit this in writing to your child's current principal by April 25th.  We can then utilize this information in the placement process.  We are not able to consider requests for individual teachers but ask that you provide us with the necessary information that will enable us to select the best placement for your child.

We appreciate your input and will give it serious consideration.  Through a collaborative partnership, we are confident that we can provide the best possible instructional program for every student.
