As we started the New Year all students set new academic goals. After vacation each will chose a student coach or mentor to help them meet that goal. In MARCH remember to ask your child who they have chosen. We are working together to develop strategies for achieving our individual goals, supporting those around us with our strong suits.

SKITTLES MATH: We learned about sorting, made real world connections to fractions, and reviewed the creation of bar graphs.
Who said learning can’t be fun?

READING, WRITING, and SOCIAL STUDIES

HALL OF FAME:
This month our class is reading and studying the genre of biographies. We are using non-fiction texts to learn note taking, double entry notes and turning our research into first person biography presentations. Students memorized all or part of their speeches and planned costumes to create real life heroes. Biography reports will be published on the bulletin board outside our classroom. Come in and read them.

clockMATH

  • We have been working on graphing, telling time, estimating and writing word problems. When sitting down to dinner or riding in the car ask your kids to tell you the correct time in more than one way. They know what to answer. All of these concepts are teaching us about math in the real world.

Thanks for helping us study our multiplication math facts for our FRIDAY POP QUIZZES!

Please continue to help organize your child by reviewing all assignments and notices sent home via backpack express. Organizational skills begun in third grade are life lessons our students will carry in their “backpacks” forever.

With your help they CAN DO IT!

SCIENCE

Our first unit was Life Cycles. After vacation we will begin Water and Soggy Paper! Look for upcoming details in the March news.
