Spring Happenings in Room 3

INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL

We are very busy working on all the projects for the International Festival which will be coming up on Friday, May 23rd.  Please be sure to mark your calendars because this event is not to be missed.  The festival will be in the morning and will include a concert, dancing from around the world and classroom presentations.  The children will NOT be preparing food for the festival.

The following assignments will be done at home.

  1. Type or neatly handwrite the final copy of your speech.  Memorize it and practice at home.
  2. Choose at least one special activity project to present or display on the day of the festival.
  3. Wear a costume related to your country on the day of the festival.
  4. Find artifacts from your country to display at your space during the festival.

Please let me know if you have any questions about any of the assignments.  The children have been doing a lot of research in class as well as making a map, flag, and report cover.  Be sure and ask them how their research is going.  They may bring their research packets home to work on and share, but they should come back to school each day.

MYSTERY READER

Many parents signed up to be a Mystery Reader during the first part of the year.  If you’re interested email me a couple of dates that work and I’ll put you on the schedule.  I don’t mind if you need to bring a younger sibling in with you.  Our Mystery Reader will come in on Fridays at 3pm.  Please bring in a book or two that can be read within the 20 minutes before dismissal.

OOPS!!!

Sorry, I forgot to send home the April Reading Incentive.  I will reward all the students for the work they have done on their in class reading logs this month.  Watch for the May Reading Incentive to come home next week.

LOOKING FOR A GOOD BOOK?

Parents are always asking for book suggestions.  Here are a couple of titles that some children have been reading in class.  Many of these can be found either in our classroom library or at the Jeffrey Library.
