Mrs. Lunn’s Winter Update
I hope everyone has had a great year so far! This month has been full of fun events! We have finished our social studies unit on the seven continents and features of the earth. Right now, we are wrapping up our study of map skills with our Flat Stanley adventures. The students are very excited to send their Stanley’s out, and we look forward to hearing the feedback! In math, we have just started our unit on adding and subtracting two-digit numbers. The students ended their last unit on a high note, and they are doing great so far with this new topic. With the ending of our map skills unit, we will also be starting a new science unit on sand, silt, and pebbles. I believe the students are really going to enjoy this hands-on experience! Our reading groups have also been running strong. We have implemented new literacy centers in the classroom that the students really seem to enjoy. The hands-on exploration of interpreting skills and playing phonics games has really grabbed their attentions! In writing, we are tying up our practice on writing endings. The students have shown tremendous growth since the beginning of the year, and we look forward to beginning a new study of genres soon. Other than that, the class has been great! We are having a lot of fun this year, and it has been a pleasure to have you all come in and volunteer your time with the kids. They really have enjoyed the activities and stories that you have shared. I hope you all have a happy holiday season!
